As a maritime player with a global presence at sea and onshore, we recognize our social, environmental, and ethical responsibility.
We strive for responsible business practices and promote sustainability throughout our network. Committed to the ten principles of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), we set measurable goals in areas where we can make a significant impact.
Our current goals for 2020-2023 are focused on diversity, safety, reducing emissions, and fighting corruption – Clipper is an active member of the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN).
Clipper Bulk’s working culture is characterized by empowerment, responsibility, security, and growth from day one. Through our innovative environment, we want to contribute to continually developing employees’ qualifications.
Offering a diverse and inclusive working environment, we consider an integrated part of being a sustainable business. We continuously extend our knowledge about the subject by attending workgroups and networks across the industry. Diversity is so much more than equality between men and women; it is about having different perspectives represented in our decision-making.
During 2022 we carried out a human rights risk assessment to ensure that we have the proper base for making decisions that could impact human rights.
Clipper Group maintains a precautionary approach to the environment and continuously invests in intelligent shipping technology to improve our environmental and financial performance.
An essential aspect of our responsibility is to decrease our vessels’ greenhouse gas emissions. To be responsible, measures and reports on our chartered fleet are accomplished via its GHG rating with RightShip, and we aim to reach an average rating of 3.0 or better.
One area in which we can have a lasting positive effect on our operational climate impact is by improving the sustainability performance of our steel-loading shipments.
We are helping the environment to find innovative solutions with recycled and reusable rubber as dunnage for the steel instead of heated wood dunnage, which must be disposed of after just one shipment – We call it Greenbars.
As an international shipping company, Clipper operates in regions where global trade exposes our vessels to corrupt and illegal practices.
Given the significant high risk of bribery and corruption, we at Clipper are acutely aware of the challenges associated with such misconduct.
Our stance is zero tolerance towards traditional bribery, and we actively collaborate with the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network to combat facilitation payments.
In 2022, we achieved a significant milestone, with 97% of our employees successfully completing Anti-Corruption training.
Clipper is proud to support International Anti-Corruption, as part of the MACN network.
MACN is a global business network working towards the vision of a maritime industry free of corruption that enables fair trade to the benefit of society at large
We have contributed to some good practical results within our membership, and we proudly continue to oppose the struggle corruption entails within our membership of the MACN.
